Privacy Policy

Who we are

MyScholar (myscholar.my) is a free, independent scholarship and internship finder for Malaysian students. It is operated by an individual based in Malaysia.

What we collect

We collect information in two ways:

• Email address — if you choose to subscribe for scholarship updates or MyJourney career alerts. This is entirely voluntary.
• Usage data — anonymous analytics via Google Analytics 4 (GA4), including pages visited, search terms used, and filters applied. No personal identifiers are attached.

We do not collect your name, phone number, NRIC, or any other personally identifying information unless you voluntarily include it in a form submission.

How we use it

Your email address is used for one purpose: to send you scholarship updates, deadline reminders, or career pathway alerts you signed up for. We do not use it for anything else.

Anonymous analytics help us understand which scholarships and features are most useful, so we can improve the site.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. The only third-party services that may process your data are:

• Supabase — our database provider, used to store email subscriptions securely.
• Resend — our email delivery provider, used to send newsletters and alerts.
• Google Analytics — for anonymous site usage analytics.

Each of these providers has their own privacy policy and data processing agreements in place.

How long we keep it

We keep your email address for as long as you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, we remove it promptly — within 7 days.

Anonymous analytics data is retained by Google Analytics under their standard retention settings.

Your rights under PDPA 2010

Under Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Withdraw consent and have your data deleted
• Opt out of receiving communications from us at any time

To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@myscholar.my and we will respond within 14 days.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies — primarily to remember your language preference (English or Bahasa Malaysia) and your bookmarked scholarships. These are stored locally in your browser and are not sent to any server. Google Analytics also sets cookies for anonymous session tracking.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date above. We will not retroactively change how we handle data you have already provided.
