Logistics and supply chain management is one of Malaysia's strategic economic sectors — Port Klang is among the busiest container ports in Southeast Asia, Kuala Lumpur International Airport handles significant air cargo volumes, and Malaysia's position at the heart of ASEAN supply chains makes logistics a consistently important employer. Logistics managers oversee the movement, storage, and distribution of goods — coordinating with freight forwarders, warehouse operators, customs brokers, and transportation providers to ensure products move efficiently from origin to destination. Entry into the logistics field typically starts with a degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or Maritime Management from institutions like UiTM (which has one of the larger logistics programmes), Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, UPM, or private institutions including INTI and HELP. Maritime and port-specific programmes are offered at Universiti Malaysia Terengganu and Politeknik Malaysia. Professional qualifications from the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) are internationally recognised and increasingly valued by Malaysian logistics employers. Major employers include Pos Malaysia, DHL, FedEx, DB Schenker, Expeditors, and the logistics arms of large retailers and manufacturers. E-commerce growth has created a significant new layer of last-mile logistics companies — Ninja Van, J&T Express, Ninjavan, and similar — that have large logistics operations requiring managers. Starting salary for a logistics executive is typically RM 2,500–3,500; experienced logistics managers handling significant accounts or regional responsibilities earn RM 6,000–12,000.
