Before spending time on an application, spend five minutes verifying that the scholarship is real. Here is the checklist. First, find the sponsoring organisation's official website — not a Facebook page, not a TikTok video, not a forwarded PDF. The official website should show the scholarship as an active programme, with an application portal, eligibility criteria, and a contact address. Second, search for the scholarship name in Google News or on the organisation's own press release page — real awards from real companies get covered in Bernama, The Star, or Malay Mail. Third, check if the scholarship is listed on official portals: JPA scholarships appear on jpa.gov.my, MARA scholarships on mara.gov.my, and many private scholarships are indexed by MyMOHE. Fourth, never pay anything. Fifth, if the scholarship arrived as a WhatsApp forward, screenshot it and search for the key claim online before trusting it. If you cannot find the scholarship on MyScholar or through a direct sponsor website search, apply extreme caution before proceeding.
